SFB Operations Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

SFB has suspended onsite operations until the end of March. This was an agonizing decision but one we felt best protects our clients (62%+ older population) and volunteers (nearly 60%) as well. We are unable to practice social distancing in our small space at the food bank and need to follow CDC guidelines to decrease the spread of this virus.

We are mailing Shoprite giftcards to clients to assist with their grocery needs for the remainder of the month. They may shop in-store, order through Shoprite-At-Home (Shoprite has provided special accommodations for us), or they can call us directly and we will have a volunteer shop/deliver for them. As of April 1st, our goal will be to provide “grab and go” bags for clients to drive by and pickup without coming into our small storefront to shop.

*Deliveries to our shut-in clients will continue as normal.

*Region 15 is providing students with lunch pickups at Pomperaug High School.

This is a difficult time for all of us, and SFB is supporting our community in the best way we can. Thank you for your compassion and commitment to help. We welcome your monetary donations during this unprecedented time to help us continue to provide food to those in need in Southbury.

If you are in need of food, please call us at 203-721-0377 or email southburyfoodbank@gmail.com Current SFB clients please click on Client Tab for more information.
